What Yummly was
Yummly was a recipe search and recommendation service. It opened a paid API in March 2013 and was bought by Whirlpool in May 2017. The API closed in 2019, and the app and website were taken offline in December 2024.

What to know
There is nothing to migrate
The Yummly API has not answered since 2019, so there is no data to export and no endpoint to map. Moving means pointing your search and recipe calls at another API.
Search and filters
Tiny Plates searches by meaning and filters by cuisine, course, diet, ingredients and time. The “without” parameter leaves out recipes that contain any allergen you list.
The recipe itself
Every recipe comes back whole: parsed ingredients with canonical ids and numbered steps, with a link to the source.
What Tiny Plates does not replace
- The Yummly app. Recipe boxes and saved recipes went with it, and Tiny Plates is an API, not an app.
- A corpus of Yummly’s size. We serve thousands of recipes.
What you get instead
- Recipe search by meaning, with cuisine, course, diet, ingredient, language and time filters.
- Allergen filters: leave out recipes that contain any of the allergens you list.
- The whole recipe in the response: parsed ingredients and numbered steps.
- An MCP server, so an agent can use the same data.
