Facts

Everything worth knowing about the recipe API, one line each.

At a glance

  • What it is: A recipe API and MCP server for apps and AI agents.
  • Price: A free plan with no credit card. Personal is $5 a month and Business $20, with extra requests at $1 per 1,000.
  • Limits: Free: 50 requests a day and 300 a week. Personal includes 5,000 requests a month and Business 20,000. Enterprise on request.
  • Recipes: Thousands, gathered from public recipe pages.
  • Languages: Recipes in English, Spanish and Swedish.
  • Ingredients: Quantity, unit, name and preparation in separate fields, with canonical ingredient ids shared across languages.
  • Steps: Numbered steps in the response.
  • Allergens: True or false for each of the EU’s 14 regulated allergens, plus the US definitions of wheat and tree nuts. Informational only.
  • Search: By meaning as well as wording.
  • Beyond recipes: Pantry matching, shopping lists grouped by aisle, serving scaling, metric and imperial conversion, and substitutions.
  • Attribution: Credit the source and link to the recipe’s source URL.
  • Caching: Cache the recipes your users ask for. Copying the index in bulk is not allowed.
